DIY Knitted Bow Brooch

As you might already know, I love bows. I mean, what's there not to love. They are cute, simple and a beautiful embellishment. As I was knitting my removable bow headbands, I had some bows leftover. So, I thought I'd turn them into brooches.

The process is rather simple and quick. It's a perfect first project for anyone interested in learning how to knit. It has all the basic stitches in it, it's not too complicated and doesn't take hours do finish. Instant gratification guaranteed!

Knitted Bow

Skill level: Beginner
Supplies: 4 mm double pointed needles, a little bit of yarn (suitable for 4mm needles). You can vary the needle size and yarn thickness to obtain a smaller or chunkier bow.

Pattern 
Cast on 15 stitches, and work in seed stitch:
1 row: knit 1, *purl 1, knit 1*, repeat from * across
2 row: repeat first row
Knit in the same way for 22 rows, then bind off all stitches.

Wind some yarn to the center of the bow, halfway through attach a brooch pin to the back, then continue winding until the center of the bow is as you like.

Finished!

Refashionista: Sleeves into blouse (tutorial)

Today's refashionista post is a first for me. I have never taken sleeves from an unwanted blouse and turned them into a new blouse in their original shape. I have used to get some material before, but not like this. The shape of this sleeve was just perfect for a gathered neckline top. And it's super simple to make. A perfect project for someone who knows a little about sewing, but has limited sewing time. It really comes together rather fast.

Sunday Spirit: Change is good

Sun is hard to come by these days. We've had snowy, foggy and windy weather with temperatures around 0C lately, which means it's wet and cold. This winter has really got the better of me. I've been so tired lately, it feels like I'm running on fumes. I can't wait for spring and beautiful sunny days. Or even sunny winter days like the one on the pictures we took a couple of weeks ago.

I feel it's time for a change, not only in the seasons, but also here on the blog. So, there are some big changes coming soon. But, all these plans are still in their early stages, so I can't spill the beans yet. I can only say that it will be a good change. Exciting times are ahead!
