Inspired: Adding ribbon bows to your rainboots

This post is just another piece of evidence showing that I am incapable of leaving my stuff the way I bought it. Yes, I admit it, I'm totally addicted to refashioning. But what can you do, when you see these adorable rainboots on Pinterest:

Could you help yourself? I didn't think so. And, they come with a tutorial, so you can make your own. I actually didn't look at the tutorial until after I made mine since these were easy to replicate from the picture, but if you'd like some guidelines, be sure to check it out. Also, I didn't cut the back of the boots open like it says in the tutorial since my boots fit me as are. But, it's a great tip for those of you who have trouble squeezing your curvy calves into boots.

I adore my new rainboots! And, they were only 7€. Got to love a bargain like that! I got them ready just in time for the stormy season around here. I've already taken them out to splash in the puddles, and got some compliments. Thanks to Christy for the inspiration!

Inspiration: Dress in progress, part 2

Today I worked on my dress again a bit, and I wanted to share my process with you in case you'd like to join in and make yourself a dress as well.

The main things are: 

• a simple and ordinary blouse pattern, that's not too tight, because you need to be able to put it on and take it off easily (I found my pattern from an old Burda magazine)

• slightly puffy sleeves (I haven't found the pattern yet, but puffy sleaves are also easier to make than normal ones)
• circle skirt
• a rubber band that is sewed inside the dress, where the skirt and upper part come together.

I decided to change the pattern a bit. I made the neckline wider and gave the piece a lower back.

So far, I have all my pieces cut, altered, and the bodice sewn. Good job I'd say for a days work! Tomorrow I'll need to join the bodice and the skirt and take care of all the edges. Can't wait to finish this one!

Inspiration: Dress in progress

Today I found a piece of beautiful vintage fabric in a forgotten drawer..I decided to make it into a really simple dress, so the floral pattern would nicely pop up.

As I have enough fabric, I decided to make the dress with a circle skirt. The material sits best this way and it gives the dress itself a bit of a vintage look!

It's still a work in progress, but stay tuned for the end result.                      

Inspiration to Reality: Bow belt skirt

Today I decided to finally exert one of my inspirations: a bow tie on a pencil skirt. As  I already had nice skirt that had a long and dangling belt, it was the perfect project starter. My inspiration:

This is what my skirt looked before the alterations:

As you can see, the belt used to have two ribbons. I used one of them to make a belt that is exactly the size of my waist and put some poppers on the ends as closures. The other ribbon was made into a bow that I sewed on to the belt. 

And that's how simple it was!
