Inspiration: My tulle skirt in progress

Today I found some time to mess with my tulle skirt. I've mentioned it in this previous post. Making of the upper layer has taken me so much time that I decided to  finish the skirt someday later.. and "later" has been already for 2 years! So now it is time to complete it, because looks like the tulle skirt trend has returned.

The upper layer is made of pieces like this..and making each of it takes a lot of time!

Today I started making the underskirt. It is just two equal pieces of fabric sewn together.

I'm putting some gathered tulle in the end of it..

The underskirt is ready. It doesn't look very good, but there is going to be layers and layers of tulle between it and the upper layer, so you really can't see it in the end.
Stay tuned for the next step!

March Favorites on P&S

Another month has come and gone. It seems to have been the final month of winter around these parts, and we're finally having some spring weather. Today I even didn't wear a hat for the first time in about 5 months!
We also had an exiting month here on Pearls & Scissors with Elle. I love how this blog keeps my creative juices flowing. Here are a few of my favorite posts from last month:

I shared my first crochet pattern with you. Has anybody tried it yet?

The zipper front dress is my favorite refashion of the month.

Elle shared a simple way to upcycle old jars for beautiful lighting.

These earrings were part of my concert gown ensamble, and I'm loving them. Here's the tutorial!

Elle shared a creative way to alter your bra to make it look super cute with a low-back dress.

I'm sure you guessed it! My favorite project of the month is my new fabulous concert gown.

Happy April, my friends! It's going to be a busy month, but hopefully we'll still have time to share some of our creative juices with you.

Refashionista: Chanel style jacket makeover

The day has finally come! I present to you my very own Chanel style jacket. It's one iconic piece I've always wanted to own, so when I found this potential fit at a thrift store for a whopping 1€ I was sold. It had a couple of serious flaws. First of all, it was a bit too wide in the waist, and I wanted to add a little something to make it more modern.

To solve the width issue, I increased the overlap in the front and added two button rows instead of one. I also added different kinds of chains to the pockets.

It was a pretty quick and easy refashion and it makes such a big difference. I haven't quite figured out how to style the jacket yet. I have a serious gap of white t-shirts in my wardrobe, that would be great in spring. I smell a wardrobe reinvention coming my way! :)
